Choosing the Correct Bobbin Step 1: Bobbin Size There are more than 20 different bobbin sizes, but the A, L, and M sizes cover over 85% of the market. Check our updated list of compatible machine models or the bobbin measurements below to find the right fit. If unsure, feel free to consult us before purchasing.

Step 2: Bobbin Type We offer three types: Plastic Sided (P), Cardboard (C), and Sideless (X). Plastic Sided bobbins are the most common and stable, suitable for all machine types. Cardboard bobbins have a plastic core but paper walls, offering lower cost but less support. Sideless bobbins are the cheapest but prone to issues, so we no longer sell them in the USA and Europe.

Step 3: Thread Color, Type, and Size We provide White (W), Black (B), and colored (3-digit code) threads. Spun Polyester is soft, strong, and suitable for machines without bobbin tension adjustment. Filament Polyester is finer but contains glue, not recommended for machines where the bobbin thread shows on the fabric. DTY Filament Polyester is elastic and cheaper, but not ideal for bobbins.

The LCW-75D2 is a cardboard, size L (SA155, Brother 9.4) bobbin, filled with 75D/2 filament polyester thread (130 yards, 60wt, Tex 17, Denier 150). If using a different thread type or weight, you may need to adjust the bobbin tension on your machine.
